Kate Dobson

Therapist

Therapy is the perfect place to let all that out, to process and explore everything you’ve been holding back.

Ever been in a crowd, with family, friends, or even in a relationship, and still felt totally alone? Like no one gets you or sees the real you? It might sound weird, but you can be surrounded by people and still feel super disconnected. Actually, U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy even calls loneliness an epidemic in the U.S. But, here’s the thing: you’re not alone, and what you’re feeling isn’t wrong or weird.

As we grow up, we’re often taught by family, culture, and society to hide certain feelings or parts of ourselves. Therapy is the perfect place to let all that out, to process and explore everything you’ve been holding back. Society often makes us pros at self-criticism, but my goal is to help shift that to self-compassion and guide you in making the changes you want. You know yourself best, and as your therapist, I’ll bring an accepting and caring approach to our work together.

I believe healing comes through connection—with others and with yourself. Together, we’ll tackle the shame, anger, or hurt that affects how you think and act. We’ll work towards your goals, building on your strengths, so you can tap into your own problem-solving skills and live a more fulfilled life.

The authentic + real stuff:

Random obsession: I love dabbling in learning languages; to learn a language really opens up how one sees the world. While I’m only proficient in French and Portuguese, I have taken classes for Spanish, Japanese (a long time ago!), Mandarin Chinese, and Hindi.

What's in your bag right now? Tissues, hand sanitizer, sunglasses, gift cards for poke and Yats that a friend generously gave me, an old pack of gum that probably needs to be thrown out.

Go-to comfort food: Mac ‘n’ cheese all the way. It’s rare I meet a mac ‘n’ cheese I don’t like.

Ideal Saturday: Starting the day with yoga and meditation, getting outside, listening to a podcast while cleaning, making time to read or watch something engaging, enjoying something delicious to eat, having an afternoon coffee, and spending time with people I love.
